Caston Village Hall Funding

by David Blincow - 09:46 on 23 January 2013

In recent years Caston Village Hall has run several events in aid of a new building fund for the hall.

The management committee have now reached the conclusion that raising funding from public sources at this time is not practical and are now concentrating their efforts on upgrading and improving the existing hall.  In recent months the hall has already benefitted from a new floor and a new roof and the committee have several ideas for further improvements.

In view of this change the committee now wish to use funds raised specifically for a new hall to help fund these ongoing improvements.  Many of the organisers of those events have indicated that they are happy for this to happen provided that the funds are used for a specific named improvement project and not for general maintenance.  Should any reader who contributed to fund raising events for a new building, object to the raised monies being used in this way please let me, David Blincow, committee chairman know.  If you wish your view to be known privately I can be contacted on 01953 488495 or by email to chairman@castonvillagehall.co.uk.  If you are happy to air your views more publicly then please feel free to comment below.

Rest assured that the Village Hall Management Committee are dedicated to ensuring that our village hall can be maintained in serviceable condition for the many vital activities that are at the heart of our village community life.

I am not against using funds that were raised at the 2 New Years Eve dinner dances that I organised (with the help of others). I do however think that, having told the people who purchased tickets and attended, that the profits would be used for a New Village Hall, they should be given the opportunity to comment on how the money is spent, Which you have now done, I personally would like to see the money raised on these 2 events being spent on something special and not general maintenance.
