The Red Lion - Summer 2013

by Jaki Porter - 21:12 on 19 May 2013

If you don't know Caston and have only read the old 'Whats Happening at the Red Lion' thread you could be put off visiting this lovely village pub in this lovely village (full of lovely villagers) by all the negative comments pertaining to the previous management.  You might not read all the way to the bottom of the page!

So I just wanted to start a new thread to make sure the world out there knows that the Red Lion is currently a very welcoming, friendly and convivial place for an evening drink OR meal.

We can only endorse what Jaki has already said, the new environment, decor and friendly welcome from our new hosts Phil and Vicky really are appreciated by the village. The drab atmosphere and lack of clients has been replaced with vibrant local conversation and a village community coming back together
Long may they continue to run an amenity that is being lost in many rural locations.

Thanks for the nice comments. We've been open about 9 weeks now and really appreciate the support we have had from the village and also surrounding villages.

With the fete on this coming Saturday we shall open the bar at 3pm so hopefully see some of you then for a drink or two (or three?)
Thanks again for the welcome to the village, see you soon, Phil & Vicky

It's great to see that the Red Lion is continuing in the promising manner it showed on opening night. I can't wait to get back and visit it myself!

Stopped and had refreshment there on 8 Jul 13. First time there in 50 years! Fine hostess; lovely to see it open. I look forward to returning on my next visit.
