George W Bush

by Webmaster - 17:16 on 13 July 2006

It appears that one Edward GILMAN, born about 1525 in Caston,  and who died 7 Jul 1573, being buried in Caston Cemetary, was an ancestor of American President George W Bush.

Edward married Rose RYSSE on 22 Jun 1550. Rose was born about 1529 also in Caston. She died 1 Oct 1613 in Caston and likewise was also buried in Caston Cemetary.

So how about that then for a claim to rival that of Hingham village with their connection to President Lincoln.  After all, in 400 years from now, George W Bush may be held in just as high esteem as Lincoln - history can do funny things.
