For the fourth year in succession the village of Thompson were victorious in the James Harrand annual inter-village quiz competition. Competing for the shield were four teams from Caston, Griston, Stow Bedon with Breckles and Thompson.
In the picture Mrs Evelyn Harrand is seen presenting the victorious Thompson team with the Harrand Shield. John Chapman, Chairman of the Caston Village Hall Committee, can be seen in the background. The Thompson team comprised (left to right) Mike Corrie, Leon Paton, Kate Winslow and Geoff Winslow. The Question Master was Ian McIntosh who was assisted by his wife, Rosemary, who set the questions.
In second place were Stow Bedon with Breckles, Griston were third and a depleted Caston team were in fourth position.
