Coffee Drop Ins

We are all hopeful that the Red Lion public house will reopen at some point in the near future and work is certainly progressing but currently the one remaining community facility that is available to us here in our village is of course the village hall.

Originally built over 80 years ago it has had various work completed over its lifetime but more needs to be done to preserve it. It’s currently home to many facilities from parish meetings to upholstery classes but most recently to our coffee mornings and it’s for this purpose that as Chairman of the Village Hall Committee I wish to thank all those people who from January this year have hosted each of those mornings.  I can’t tell you how many cups of coffee or cakes we have sold but I can tell you that in the past six months these mornings have raised £908.00 and that alone will pay for a new disabled ramp into the hall – so badly needed!

And yet, the £900.00 perhaps falls into insignificance in terms of the camaraderie that these mornings have built.  For two hours every Friday I witness a really friendly atmosphere where folk from our village get to know one another that much better and I can only say again, thank you so much to those who have run the mornings and, if you have not yet been along to a Coffee Drop-In then do give it a try – you might just become addicted.
