Every year for the past 15 years, the Henderson Quiz has taken place at the village hall but few people seem to know the origin of the quiz.
Well, the idea of a quiz came about as the result of a bequest to the village hall from Vina Henderson. Vina ran a shop in Stow Bedon but when she died some 15 years ago she very generously bequeathed £1,000 to the village hall. The hall trustees then decided that in order to remember Vina's generosity they would run an annual quiz and the winners would be awarded a place on the Henderson shield.
The competition this year was overseen by Ian McIntosh who declared himself question master, judge, jury, referee and umpire!! Questions were brilliantly set by Brenda Southgate.
This year there were 14 tables of four competing for first place which was taken by the very worthy winners - The Caston Primary School Teachers (pictured left), represented by Leonie & Andy Smith and Jill & Ron Black. Second place was taken by a team from Ovington and in a very creditable 3rd place was the Caston Camera Club.
Well done though to everyone who joined in what was as usual a very good evening's entertainment.
