At long last the new roof for our village hall is about to be installed. Earlier today EDF were involved in shrouding the main electric cabling where it is attached to the village hall in order to make it safe for the work to commence.
Great credit must be given in particular to Graham Penfold who personally put in a lot of effort in securing lottery funds from "Awards for All" to make this new roof a reality.
Scaffolding will be erected today and work will commence next Tuesday. With the right weather conditions work should be completed within one week.
Our biggest worry was that the deteriorating roof was not protecting the hall from the worst of the weather and this would lead to a rapid deterioration of this important community facility.
The Village Hall Committee chairman, David Blincow said "There is still much that needs to be done in order to preserve the hall for future generations and under the management of the present Village Hall Committee, ongoing maintenance will be our priority".
