Caston Parish Could Face £5,000 Fine

The residents of Caston could face a substantial rise in their rates if Caston Parish Council are charged and found guilty of not displaying statutory “No Smoking” signs in the two village bus shelters. The signs have been put in place in the shelters in order to comply with the current requirements for the no smoking legislation but they are being systematically removed from the boards. The signs have now been replaced several times but continue to be removed. It is essential that these signs remain in place to ensure that the parish does not fall foul of the law.

It should be noted that it is against the law to remove the signs and we understand that persons convicted of removing them could face a potential fine of up to £5,000.
