David Blincow's illustrated presentation which described his working life looking after ships of all types and sizes in various parts of the world from Europe to Japan was very well attended last night and raised a very worthwhile £235.00 for the Village Hall Restoration fund.
Money going into the Restoration fund is vital if we are to ensure that the fabric of the hall lasts not only for present times but into the future as well.
Thanks for last night also go to Stephanie and Kay for preparing the food, all those who supplied free of charge the raffle prizes and of course those who kindly remained behind to help clear the hall.
While talking about raising money, the Village Hall Coimmittee also wishes to thank Denise Bearne who contributed £188.00 to the Restoration Fund from proceeds of the Craft Sale a week last Saturday.
Recent major works in the hall have been the replacement of the floor as well as the replacement of the roof. There have also been numerous small improvements an example being the refurbishment of the front step into the hall.
Future improvements will be to the car park with improved lighting and surface as well as additional storage facilities, an improved kitchen and toilet area and a number of other projects all designed to make our village hall a centre to be enjoyed by village residents.
