Thompson Triumph Again
The annual Harrand Quiz between the four villages of Caston, Thompson, Griston and Stow Bedon with Breckles took place at Caston Village Hall on Friday 8th November. For the eighth year in succession the quiz was won by Thompson. Their team scored 52 points out of a possible 80, with Stow Bedon as runners up with 40. Questions over the eight rounds covered subjects from Geography to Science and Technology, Gardening to Film and TV.
The event was well supported and the two "ad hoc" teams comprising the spectators came in second and third place behind Thompson on points scored!
The photo shows the winning Thompson team of Browyn Tyler, Kate Winslow, Geoff Winslow and Leoni Paton. The shield and certificates were presented by Mrs Evelyn Harrand, the question-master was David Blincow and the scorer was Brian Brooker.
The competition between teams of four members from the four villages is held annually in memory of the late James Harrand, a former Deputy Headmaster, Caston Council Chairman and Village Hall Chairman who made a great contribution to the life of the area.
