The annual quiz held annually between the villages of Griston, Stow Bedon with Breckles, Caston and Thompson took place on the evening of Friday 7th November. The James Harrand Quiz has been held for the last thirty-five years to celebrate the life of the late James Harrand who was Deputy Head of Wayland School, Chairman of Caston Parish Council and of the Caston Village Hall whilst also serving on the PCC of Caston Church.
For the last nine years the Thompson team have reigned supreme but this year they came seconjd being just four points behind a new Caston team, whilst Griston came third.
At a late stage Griston were short of two of their players so two residents of Caston came to their assistance. It is hoped that Griston will be able to have a full team next year when the quiz is scheduled to take place on Friday 6th November 2015 when it is possible that the question format will be slightly different.
Brian Brooker was the scorekeeper and David Blincow was question master.
