It has been some time now since Caston Village Hall Committee developed plans to improve the hall premises. Understandably there have recently been many enquiries regarding the scheme's progress.
The committee have raised about £40k towards the scheme but, in the absence of a benefactor (!!), it has been researching grant funding. It soon became apparent that funding opportunities for non-charitable organisations were very limited and relatively small. Consequently the committee have decided to seek charity status. This is a rather protracted procedure which requires change in trusteeship and ownership of the hall and land which then requires registration with land registry. The committee have identified the new charity trustees and are currently in process of seeking registration with the Charity Commission. Once registration is confirmed the committee will then be able to seek the required grant funding.
At this time we are uncertain when the necessary funds will be available but we will keep the community updated with progress.
