James Harrand Quiz Night
The annual quiz contest between the Breckland villages of Caston, Griston, Thompson and Stow Bedon was again contested last Monday evening 13th November 2006 at Caston Village Hall. The first contest saw the reigning champions Griston defeated by Caston whilst Thompson had a close victory over Stow Bedon in the second contest. Following a break for refreshments to give contestants time to recover, the final was closely fought between Caston and Thompson over four rounds. Topics covered Norfolk Knowledge, Motoring, Gardening and Plants and General Knowledge. Caston led by just two points entering the final round but eventually Thompson ran out winners by the closest of margins; just one point. The questions were posed by quizmaster Robert Crossthwaite from Saham Toney and his wife Angela kept control of the time and the scores. Congratulations to Thompson who will be invited to defend their title next November when the 25th anniversary of the event will be staged – definitely a date for the diaries. posted by David Blincow
