Mystery Tour

On Saturday 18th July 29 of us met at the village hall and set off through some beautiful countryside taking in some gorgeous villages. We were obviously setting off to Suffolk somewhere.
First port of call was Snape where we had morning refreshments and had nearly two hours to browse around the Snape Maltings which is on the river and had a good array of shops.

Then on to Dunwich on the coast for a lovely lunch in the Café on the beach. The sun was shining and most of us headed to the beach for a sit down or paddle in the sea for the more adventurous ones!!!!

Duly refreshed back on the coach again to the East Anglia Transport museum at Carlton Colville near Lowestoft. This was a memorable trip back in time – we all rode on vintage trams, trolley buses and the little train. All tickets were punched by staff all of whom are volunteers. Afternoon tea was drunk and then back on the coach for a raffle and a ride home.

A lovely outing enjoyed by everybody – well done to all who organised the trip.

May Meeting

This month was the voting for the resolution for the whole of the W.I. There was only one resolution this time which was for the government to increase funding into research for Bee Health. It seems that it is an increasing problem that the honey bees are dying out and as they contribute so much to our society in terms of food, crops and plants this is a major problem. We all voted and it was unanimous that we all agreed. Our vote will be counted at the National Meeting in June.

We welcomed Rosemary as a visitor to our meeting and welcomed back Helga after her operation.

Several of us were measured and informed whether we were short waisted, long waisted and whether we were in proportion.   February 2009

On a very cold and snowy evening – we wondered whether the speaker would turn up – but he didn’t let us down. We welcomed Mike Wabe who had driven from Thetford to give us
A fascinating talk on “Life in Medievel England”. He dressed up for the occasion and was a fighting templar Monk. He had brought along loads of weapons, armour and drinking and eating vessels and proceeded to tell us what life was like circa 1125.
All I can say is that life was alright if you were wealthy but if you were poor it was tough. A brilliant talk by him especially as he remained in character for the talk.

Onto the meeting . Unfortunately both of the bowling teams are now out of the competition – better luck next time! Everybody enjoyed the trip to West Side Story.
