Women's Institute

Caston WI under the guidance of our current president Helga Lindsey is a lively interesting group of local women, not only from Caston but from the surrounding villages as well, who enjoy handicrafts of all kinds and listening to speakers on a monthly basis that have those certain skills that we all wish we had.

We always have a refreshment break in each meeting in order for members to chat and get to know one another.  Also, from time to time we have outings that always prove popular and oversubscribed.  We've visited places as diverse as USAF at Lakenheath and examined a working F15 bomber (scary) as well as a trip to Thursford to see the Christmas Extravaganza (fairy lights galore - fabulous).  If that's not enough we also have a darts team and an indoor bowls team that compete in a league against other WI groups.  New members are always asked if they have any interest in all these activities and encouraged to join in.

Okay, so yes we do sing Jerusalem but only occasionally at the end of each meeting and many laugh because we do but it's a rousing tune and we enjoy singing it so what's wrong with that!!  It sends us off home with a happy feeling and in today's rushed world that's not a bad thing.
